Abandoned Truck

Several weeks ago, the people who own the cottage next to PMBC installed a new mailbox near the side of the road. I mentioned to the man who was installing it that the spot he chose was prone to get hit by careless drivers. He didn't seem too worried about it.

The main entrance to PMBC is located on the bend of a very curvy road. At least once a year (usually during the Summer) we witness an accident near our entrance. This year's first accident occurred on Monday evening just before 7:00pm.

A blue Dodge pickup took the corner too quickly and slammed into the neighbor's mailbox and then into a tree. The driver and passenger were unhurt, but the truck was no longer drivable. We gave the driver permission to leave the truck in our parking lot until his "friend could come and tow it for him." I even gave the guy a ride back to his home in Pittston because he couldn't get anyone to come pick him up.

As I type this, it is late on Friday evening and the truck is still here. I assumed that they would have come for it on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Now I'm getting suspicious. Is this car being abandoned? Why haven't they come back for it? It's not an old vehicle and it's not in bad shape. I'm getting sick of seeing it out my kitchen window.

Even worse is the fact that I didn't bother to get the guy's name and number. The only way I can think to contact him would be to drive to his house and knock on his door (I can't remember the address, but I know I could find it again).

Any suggestions? If the car is still here tomorrow, I'm going to call the police and see if they can contact the guy by tracing his plate number.

Update: A tow truck arrived on the property the evening of July 31st to remove the abandoned truck. That's very interesting because after the DMV gave us his address, I sent him a letter saying that we were going to tow the truck off the property this Thursday if he didn't come to get it.
