Strange days for the church

We live in a strange day. On a daily basis, I find myself feeling quite appalled at how far we are drifting away from the things of God while we gravitate toward worldly and even satanic notions.

Even sadder is when the "church" begins to adopt these ways of thinking. I'm fully aware that Christians aren't perfect, nor do I expect us to be completely perfected as of yet. I recognize that we are born with a sin nature, yet at the time we trust in Christ, we are given a brand new nature. The challenge from Scripture is to live in that new nature, the nature of Christ, instead of reverting back to our old nature.

So what can we say for the fact that as Christians we have learned to justify nearly every vice introduced to man. It pains me the more it becomes apparent that the church no longer condemns:

abusing alcohol
vile entertainment choices (ie, most movies, popular music and TV)
homosexuality
gambling
divorce
taking innocent life

I'm starting to wonder just how many people who call themselves "Christian" have truly had a new-birth experience through trusting in Christ Jesus alone for salvation. Take the article that I read today for example. Apparently, not only has the Church of England come to the point of condoning homosexual activity, but they now are advocating killing infants who are born with birth defects.

This is not the kind of thinking that displays the filling of the Holy Spirit.

Why the big surprise about England? In a recent census done in Jedi Knight was listed as a religion. I think leaders of the church of England as well in the United States are taking their eyes off the road. They are too caught up in other pursuits, and have lost the respect of the people.
