Hornet

Andrea and I decided to take some time this morning to give our cars a mid-summer cleaning. We vacuumed, washed and waxed both the truck and the van. Of course the kids wanted to be outside with us so they could get sprayed with the hose. It was a nice family moment.
Until.....
As we were putting the hoses away, something buzzed by Hannah and landed on her toe. It was a hornet and it stung her. This is the first time she has experienced this kind of pain, so she shrieked and cried for quite some time. I tried to catch the thing and kill it, but it eluded my grasp.
The best part was Hannah's analysis of the event. While Andrea was putting baking soda on her toe, Hannah commented, "That bee should have been more careful. It's not my friend anymore."

ohh Hannah...poor thing.
Growing up we didn't have one of those fancy clothes dryers and had to dry our clothes outside on a clothes "line" and once in a while I would be putting on a shirt and sure enough there was a bee up my sleeve OUCH!!! Bee stings sure do hurt.
